We drove through Natchez and admired some houses, some of which date back to before the Civil War.

One of the houses had these lovely flowers growing right in the lawn.

We saw some pelicans flying over the town.

We started out on the Natchez Trace Parkway,

but its monotonous beauty put us to sleep, so we turned off onto local roads

Near Tuscaloosa we stopped at Moundville, the site of a pre-European Indian civilization.

For dinner we went to Dreamland BB Que. located in an industrial park near our motel.

We managed to eat a full slab,

with some nice local beer.
